About Us
NEWS FLASH: If you visit Morrisons in Oxted in the run-up to Remembrance Sunday 2024 , you will see a post-box topper made by THS members. The topper is decorated with boots, a helmet, and 62 poppies - one for each member of THS. We have also made over 300 poppy brooches which can be purchased from the British Legion stand within Morrisons. The Tandridge Handicraft Society was founded in 2003 by Ann Hiller. Its aim is to encourage crafts in the area. The membership consists of both experts and amateurs and provides inspiration and guidance for all, to create both beautiful and practical things.  Some of the crafts which members are working on include patchwork, quilting, knitting, beading, canvaswork (or tapestry), textile art, embroidery, appliquĂ©, lace- making and crochet. The Society celebrated its twentieth birthday in March 2023 with an exhibition of members’ work at the United Reformed Church in Bluehouse Lane, Oxted. The membership comprises all ages and the Society is keen to keep crafts alive in the Tandridge District by passing them down to younger members.  It is a very lively and friendly group.
